    1. The objective and location of action:

      The objective of the study is to determine the effects of HIV/AIDS on human resources, natural resources as well as the social and economic systems across important development sectors of the Enugu State economy in Nigeria.

    2. The result of the action: Evidence based report on the impact of HIV/AIDS in Enugu State.

  2. Monitoring and Evaluation of 2008 MDG projects and programmes in Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria ( 2009/2010).

    1. The objective and location of action:

      To determine the level of implementation of the various projects and programmes funded under the MDG-DRG of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

    2. The result of the action: Report showing the degree of achievement of the MDG-DRG projects/programmes in Akwa-Ibom State.

    3. Lead Manager: The African Centre for Rural Development & Environment (ACERDEN) in collaboration with the Tower Hills Integrated Services LTD.

    4. The cost of the action: N10 million.

  3. Education and Health Support to OVCs (Children and Students) in Igbo-Eze LGA of Enugu State at community secondary school Udah, 25th February, 2010.

    1. The objective and location of action:

      To provide school fees, uniforms, books and health product to OVCs for their continued education and livelihood, Udah, Igbo-Eze North LGA.

    2. The result of the action: Ten (10) OVCs continued their education.

    3. Lead Manager: The African Centre for Rural Development & Environment (ACERDEN).

    4. The cost of the action: N150,000.00

    5. Donor to the action: Ministry of Gender Affairs and Social Development, Enugu, Nigeria.


  4. Educational and Health Support to Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVCs), and Micro-credit support to Alaka Women Group in Igbo-Eze North LGA of Enugu Stat, 11th March, 2009.

    1. The objective and location of action:

      1. To provide school fees, uniforms, books and health product to OVCs for their continued education and livelihood, Udah, Igbo-Eze North LGA.

      2. To empower the Alaka Women Group with capital for income generation and self-reliance.

    2. The result of the action:

      1. Ten (10) OVCs continued their education.

      2. Fifteen (15) women empowered with N20,000.00 micro-credit each.

    3. Lead Manager: The African Centre for Rural Development & Environment (ACERDEN) was the the lead manager of teh projects.

    4. The cost of the action: N500,000.00

  5. Intermediate evaluation of the Local Empowerment and Environmental Management Project (LEEMP) in Enugu State, Nigeria.(year 2008).

    1. The objective and location of action:

      The objective of the assignment is to do a preliminary assessment of the performance of the World Bank assisted Local Empowerment and Environmental Management Project (LEEMP) in Enugu State to determine the level of achievement of the set objectives of poverty reduction and improved rural livelihood in the states.

    2. The result of the action:

      1. Empowerment of Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) with knowledge and skills on community driven development (CDD) strategies.

      2. Improve rural infrastructure e.g health centers, rural electrification, water supply and access road rehabilitation, etc.

      3. Poverty reduction.

    3. The African Centre for Rural Development & Environment (ACERDEN) was the Lead Manager of the project.

    4. The cost of the action: N2.2 Million.

    5. Donor to the action:

      Name: Enugu State LEEMP & World Bank.

  6. Baseline survey of five participating state in the Commercial Agriculture Development Project (CADP) in Nigeria (February, 2008).

    1. The objective and location of action:

      The objective of this project was to carry out a baseline study to established bench-marks or situation analysis of the status of commercial agriculture in the target states prior to project intervention.

      Location: Cross River, Enugu, Kaduna, Kano and Lagos states.

    2. The result of the action:

      Production of a baseline report on commercial agriculture for the target five lead states.

    3. ACERDEN was the Lead Manger of the project.

    4. The cost of the action: N11.8 Million.

    5. Donor to the action: National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA)/World Bank.


  7. Business development support assessment for the five lead states in the commercial agriculture development project (CADP) in Nigeria (March, 2008).

    1. The objective and location of action:

      The study was aimed at describing the business environment in the CADP states as well as identify potential roles of public and private institutions in the development of commercial agriculture in the states.

      Location: Cross River, Enugu, Kaduna, Kano and Lagos states.

    2. The results of action: Report on the business development support opportunities and challenges in the CADP states.

    3. ACERDEN was the sole consultancy firm that executed the project.

    4. The cost of the action : N7.5 Million.

    5. Donor to the action: National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA)/ World Bank.


  8. Supply chain assessment for the five lead states in the Commercial Agriculture Development Project (CADP) in Nigeria (March 2008).

    1. The objective and location of action:

      The study focused on the supply analysis of the various commodities in which the participating states have comparative advantage in order to establish the strengths, weakness, opportunity and threats (SWOT) along the value chains in the five states.

    2. The results of the action: Supply chain analysis report.

    3. ACERDEN was the sole consultant that executed the project.

    4. The cost of the action : N8,756,300.00

    5. Donor to the action: NFRA/World Bank.


  9. Monitoring and evaluation of 2006 & 2007 Millennium development Goals (MDGs) projects in Enugu state, Nigeria: (civil society perspective) (year 2007 & 2008.)

    1. The objective and location of the action:

      The objective of the assignment was to undertake field surveys of the project sites in the various communities in Enugu state and established their status or level of implication.

    2. The result of the action:

      1. increased awareness of the communities about MDG project in the State.

      2. status report on the 2006 MDG project in Enugu State.

    3. The African Centre for Rural Development & Environment ACERDEN/ Association for Rural Development (ASRUDE) executed the project in collaboration with the State Consultant, the Tee Martins Engineering Ltd.

    4. The cost of the action: N9.6 Million.

    5. Donor to the action: MDG office, The Presidency, Abuja, Nigeria.


  10. Baseline survey of sixty (60) participating communities in the Local Empowerment and Environmental Management Project (LEEMP) in Enugu State, Nigeria, (year 2006).

    1. The objective and location of action:

      The primary objective was to do a situation analysis of the target communities and establish bench marks before LEEMP intervention activities in these communities. It provided background data/information for effective project evaluation.

      Location: Sixty (60) designated communities in Enugu State.

    2. The results of the action: Baseline report on sixty (60) LEEMP communities in Enugu State.

    3. ACERDEN carried out the study as the sole manager or consulting firm.

    4. The cost of the action: N5.3 Million.

    5. Donor to the action: LEEMP/World Bank.


  11. Baseline survey of thirty (30) participating communities in the Local Empowerment and Environmental Management Project (LEEMP) in Enugu State, Nigeria (year 2005)

    1. The objective and location of action:

      To provide baseline information about the target LEEMP communities for the purpose of effective project intervention and subsequent impact evaluation studies Location: thirty (30) designated communities in Enugu State.

    2. The results of the action: Baseline report on thirty (30) communities in Enugu State

    3. ACERDEN carried out the study as the sole manager or consulting firm.

    4. The cost of the action: N2.5 Million.


  12. Capacity training of Community Action Committee on HIV/AIDS (CACA) for Amufie Umuitodo, Igbo-Eze North LGA and Ajuona Obimo, Nsukka LGA of Enugu State, Nigeria (year 2003).

    1. The objective and location of action:

      The objective of the action was to create awareness on the dangers prevention of HIV/AIDS epidemic in the communities.

      Location: Amufie Umuitodo community, Igbo-Eze North LGA and Ajuona Obimo community, Nsukka LGA, Enugu State, Nigeria.

    2. The results of the action: The communities were equipped with the knowledge and skills for HIV/AIDS prevention as well as on fund-raising strategies to assist people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and people affected by HIV/AIDS (PABA).

    3. ACERDEN played the role of a member NGO in the Enugu State Coalition of Civil Societies on HIV/AIDS (ESCCHA) that implemented the state-wide project on HIV/AIDS prevention in 17 LGAs of Enugu State worth N6.8 million.

    6. Total Amount contributed by DFID for the HIV/AIDS prevention pilot project in 17 LGA of Enugu State to ESCCHA - N6.8 million.

  13. Community Education/Training on Civic Education/Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women (OSIWA for Amorji-Nike, Nkanu East LGA, Enugu State. (year 2003).

    1. The objective and location of action:

      The objective of the action was to educate the people on the dangers of harmful traditional practices (HTP) especially discrimination against women on social, economic and political development of the community, and empowerment of women specifically.

      Location: Amorji-Nike community. Enugu East LGA, Enugu State

    2. The results of the Action: The citizens of Amorji-Nike community were sensitized on the need to eliminate discrimination against women in their community.

    3. ACERDEN was a member of the network of NGOs (CENGOS) that executed the Civic Education Project in Enugu State. However, ACERDEN was the lead manager and sole executor of the project in Amorji-Nike community.

    4. The cost of the action: N550,000.00

  14. Capacity building and training programme on labour-intensive rural feeder road construction and rehabilitation for Mbu community in Isi-Uzo LGA and Akpawfu in Nkanu-East LGA of Enugu State, Nigeria (Year 2001/2002).

    1. The objective and location of the action:

      The objective of the action was to expose the Mbu and Akpawfu communities to labour - based methods as a viable strategy for rural feeder road maintenance.

      Locations: Mbu, Isu-Uzo LGA and Akpawfu, Nkanu-East LGA of Enugu State.

    2. The results of the action: Participants from the two communities were trained on labour-based rural feeder road maintenance and fund raising with elements of accounting and budgeting.

    3. ACERDEN was the lead manager and the sole executor of the project. UNDP provided grant and supervised its implementation.

    4. Cost of the action: N1,210,000.00

    5. Donor to the Action:

      Name: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

  15. Hands-on demonstration training on labour-intensive construction/rehabilitation and maintenance of rural feeder roads in Ebonyi State Nigeria (year 1999/2000).

    1. The objective and location of the action:

      The objective was to equip the local government personnel and communities with the knowledge and skills for rural feeder road construction/rehabilitation using the labour-based technique.

    2. The results of the action: The participants were trained on design of rural roads, damage, latent surfacing, technical aspects of maintenance and management and financing of community feeder roads.

    3. ACERDEN was the lead manager and sole implementer of the project.

    4. The cost of the action: N500,000.00

    5. Donor to the action:

      Name: UNDP

      Amount contributed: N280,000.00


  16. Survey and capacity building programme design on labour - intensive rural feeder construction and rehabilitation for ten communities in Ebonyi State, Nigeria (year 1999).

    1. The objective and location of action:

      The objectives were to carry out condition survey of rural feeder roads that need maintenance, prepare design for labour intensive rural feeder road construction/rehabilitation and prepare capacity building programme for the benefiting communities. The location of the action is Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria.

    2. The results of the action:

      1. Training of local government personnel on labour-based rural feed road construction/rehabilitation.

      2. Training of representatives of the benefiting communities.

        The training incorporated fund raising, financial management/budgeting in the training modules.

    3. The African Centre for Rural Development & Environment (ACERDEN) was the lead manager of the project. It was fully executed by the ACERDEN project team.

    4. The cost of the action: N760,000.00

    5. Donor to the action:

      Name: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
